Dr. Hatzell joined the George Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering in the Fall of 2015. Prior to this appointment, she completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in the department of Material Science and Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  In August 2014, she completed her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University, while serving as an NSF Graduate Research Fellow. Her research group focuses on photo(electro)chemical systems and materials for waste conversion, water treatment, and nutrient production. She received the NSF faculty early CAREER award in 2019.
