Keynote Speaker
- Galit Alter, Moderna, USA
Dr. Galit Alter is the Vice President of Immunology Research at Moderna. After completing her BSc and PhD at McGill University in the arena of HIV infection and pathogenesis, Dr. Alter shifted her work to the development of technologies to study the human immune response across pathogens at the Ragon Institute of MGH, MIT, and Harvard. Dr. Alter’s work focuses on the development and application of new systems biology tools to define the correlates of immunity against infectious and non-infectious diseases. Her efforts have been accelerated by the development of a unique Systems Serology profiling approach, which enables the comprehensive dissection of the antigen-specific immune response, enabling the identification of pathogen-, vaccine-, or disease-specific humoral immune responses at an unprecedented depth in the context of multiOMIC datasets. Coupled to machine learning and artificial intelligence, her work unveils the mechanistic basis of protective immunity across pathogens and diseases, often pointing to unexpected correlates of immunity that can be harnessed by mRNA therapeutics.
