Visa Free Entry to Hainan
Important visa information for travel to mainland China and Hainan Province
Please note that there are two visa-free options for mainland China, each with specific eligibility based on your country and the duration of stay.
If you are only attending the conference in Hainan Province
You can travel to Hainan visa-free by following the policies for visa-free entry to Hainan.
If your journey includes a connecting flight, use Hong Kong as your transit point rather than airports in mainland China, such as Beijing or Shanghai.
If you plan to travel in mainland China before or after the conference
Please review both the "China’s visa-free policies – updated November 2024" and the "visa-free entry to Hainan" guidelines to determine:

Visa-Free Entry to Hainan
Effective February 9, 2024, citizens of 59 visa-free eligible countries holding ordinary passports (other travel document holders are not eligible) may enter Hainan Province for purposes including:
- Commercial activities and trade
- Visits and exchanges
- Family reunions
- Receiving medical treatment
- Attending exhibitions
- Participating in sporting events
This visa-free entry allows for stays of up to 30 days. Please note that long-term work and study are excluded from this policy.
Preparation for Visa-Free Entry
To ensure a smooth entry process, please prepare the following supporting documents:
- Invitation letters (if applicable)
- Hotel bookings
- Other necessary documentation relevant to your travel purpose
Foreign nationals can enter Hainan through any open port in the province and must remain within the province's administrative area during their stay. Each entry period is calculated from 00:00 on the day following the day of entry. Travelers must also adhere to the relevant provisions of any mutual visa exemption agreements signed with China.

Please note that you may require a travel visa to enter China. To confirm the specific travel requirements for your nationality, consult the following resources:

Important Recommendations
- It is strongly advised to apply for a Chinese visa at least one month before your travel to allow sufficient processing time.
