Prof. Chengcai Chu obtained his Ph.D. in Martin-Luther University, Germany in 1996. After that he worked in IPK, Germany as postdoc. In 1999, he went back to China as senior researcher in Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. In November 2021, he moved to South China Agricultural University as the dean of College of Agriculture. His team mainly focuses on dissecting the molecular mechanisms of nutrient sensing, utilization, the interplay among different nutrients, and also their impact on nutrient use efficiency of plants. The lab has published more than 140 papers in journals such as Nature, Nature Genetics, Nature Biotechnology, Nature Plants, Nature Communications, Plant Cell, and PNAS etc.
