Jia joined the Cell editorial team in 2020. Along with her colleagues, she handles manuscripts submitted for consideration, assessing them conceptually and managing the peer review process. Jia received a B.S. in biomedical science in China and a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from State University of New York at Buffalo. She conducted postdoctoral research at the Rockefeller University studying molecular, cellular and circuit basis for mental disorders and neurodegenerative disorders. At Cell, Jia continues her interest in neuroscience and expands to structural biology, cancer biology and genetics.
