Xiaohua Shen received her Ph.D. at the University of Michigan and did the postdoctoral training with Stuart Orkin at Harvard Medical School. Xiaohua is recently a Cheung Kong Scholar and an Associate Professor in the School of Medicine at Tsinghua University. Xiaohua serves on the Editorial Board of Cell Reports. Her research interest is to understand how lncRNAs and genomic repeats influence chromatin structure, gene expression and cell fate in development. Her lab discovered a prevalent cis-regulatory mode of lncRNAs in modulating nearby transcription and chromatin structure and that an lncRNA’s transcripts and DNA sequences can function oppositely in regulating its target expression.
