Hongmei Wang is a professor of the State Key Laboratory of Stem Cell and Reproductive Biology (SRLab), Institute of Zoology (IOZ), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). She is currently the director of SRLab. She is also the chairman of the Chinese Society of Reproductive Biology. She received her Bachelor’s (1995) and Master’s (1998) degrees in Cell Biology from Beijing Normal University and her Ph. D degree (2002) in Reproductive Biology from IOZ. Hongmei had her postdoctoral training (2003-2005) in Ottawa Health Research Institute, University of Ottawa. She joined SRLab in 2006 and since then she has been dedicated to answering the following scientific questions: How does the placenta function to guarantee the development of a healthy embryo (baby) and maintain a healthy pregnancy? What is the correlation between malfunction of the placenta and gestational related diseases? She received the National Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2012 and many awards from the National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China and Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China for her achievements in the field of reproductive biology and reproductive medicine..
