Anne Grapin-Botton, Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics, Germany
Anne Grapin-Botton is a director at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics and an affiliate of the Paul Langerhans Institute in Dresden, Germany. She formerly held group leader positions at ISREC/EPFL (Lausanne, Switzerland) and DanStem (University of Copenhagen). The Grapin-Botton lab investigates how the pancreas and its beta cells develop during fetal life and how impaired development predisposes to diabetes. To do so they use mouse genetics, live imaging and single cell transcriptome analyses. They also developed mouse and human organoid models enabling them to recapitulate development in vitro from pluripotent stem cells. These studies also help generate beta cells towards a cell therapy of diabetes.
