Yangfei Xiang

Dr. Yangfei Xiang is an Assistant Professor and PI of the Stem Cell and Neurobiology Lab of the School of Life Science and Technology at ShanghaiTech University. He received a Ph.D. in 2013 from Jinan University, China, and was awarded the National Graduate Scholarship. After his postdoctoral training at Yale Stem Cell Center and the Department of Genetics at Yale University, he became an Assistant Professor at ShanghaiTech University in 2020. He is a committee member of several organizations, including the Chinese Neuroscience Society (Development and Regeneration section) and the Annual Conference of the Chinese Society for Stem Cell Research (CSSCR). His main research topic in the past decade includes developing human pluripotent stem cell-derived brain region-specific organoids and complex neural organoid models. He developed several early interregional brain circuits and vascularization models by incorporating distinct brain region-specific organoids and cell fate programming. He was introduced among the “Early-career Researchers in the Time of COVID-19” Voices series in Cell Stem Cell in 2020 and 2021.
