Prof. Claudia Bagni completed her undergraduate studies in Biology and her Ph.D. at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, Italy. She worked as postdoctoral fellow at the CNRS in Toulouse, France, Harvard University, USA and EMBL, Germany. In 1998 she established her group at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, moved to the K University of Leuven - VIB, Belgium from 2008 to 2016. Since 2016 she is Professor at the University of Rome Tor Vergata and Director of the Department of Fundamental Neurosciences at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland.
Her ultimate goal is to understand how the interplay between RNA metabolism and actin remodeling regulates synapse physiology, pathology (fragile X syndrome and autism) and ultimately brain activity and behavior using fruit fly and mouse models.
Selected awards: EMBO member, UCB Award and Solvay Price by the Queen Elisabeth Medical Foundation (Belgium), the Nestlé Research & Development Women in Science Award (Switzerland).
