Dr. Xiaohong Xu earned her bachelor’s degree from Peking University and her Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University. After completing her post-doctoral training under Dr. Nirao Shah at the University of California, San Francisco, she established her own laboratory at the Institute of Neuroscience, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 2012. Dr. Xu's primary research focus is on the sexual differentiation of the brain and behavior. Recently, she and a team of researchers conducted a large-scale collaborative study that mapped the single neuron projectomes of specific hypothalamic peptidergic neuron populations in male mice. This study, published on bioRxiv provides a structural framework for understanding the hypothalamic neural circuits involved in various physiological functions, including the regulation of metabolism.
