Dr. Xin Sun is a Professor of Pediatrics and Cell and Developmental Biology at University of California, San Diego. She obtained her Ph.D. at Yale University and conducted postdoctoral training at University of California, San Francisco. The Sun lab studies multiple aspects of lung biology, including the mechanisms of lung development and injury repair. Under the LungMAP consortium, her team produces open-source single cell profiling data from the human lung for the research community. Following unexpected findings that led to their studies of pulmonary neuroendocrine cells, they entered the discipline of Interoception to investigate lung-brain crosstalk. They will continue this line of research under the theme of “Consider the Lung as a Sensory Organ."
