Isaac Chiu, Harvard Medical School, USA
Dr. Isaac Chiu is an assistant professor at Harvard Medical School in the Department of Immunology. He began his laboratory in 2014. His lab studies how microbes communicate with the nervous system to modulate host defense, pain, and inflammation. Dr. Chiu received his undergraduate degree from Harvard College, where he worked in Dr. Jack Strominger’s lab. He did his PhD dissertation work in Dr. Michael Carroll’s laboratory at Harvard Medical School on the role of the immune system in the neurodegenerative disease Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). He then did postdoctoral fellowships in Dr. Tom Maniatis’s lab and Dr. Clifford Woolf’s lab in neurobiology of pain.
