Xiaoyu Hu received her Bachelor of Medicine degree from Peking University and obtained her Ph.D. degree in immunology from Cornell University. Currently she is Professor and Director of Institute for Immunology, Tsinghua University. Dr. Hu’s research aims to better understand transcriptional, translational and metabolic mechanisms that regulate macrophage and other myeloid cell responses to microbial and inflammatory cues. She is the recipient of multiple awards including Christina Fleischmann Award to Young Women Investigators from International Cytokine & Interferon Society, Distinguished Young Investigator Award from National Science Foundation of China and Newton Advanced Fellowship from the U.K. Royal Society. Dr. Hu also serves on editorial boards of journals including Trends in Immunology, Science Advances, eLife and Mucosal Immunology. She co-organized and chaired for international conferences including International Congress of Immunology, Society of Leukocyte Biology Annual Meeting and Cell Research Symposium. She actively advocates for woman scientists by composing an essay for Nature Immunology as well as serving on career development panels.
