Tom MacVicar

Tom MacVicar is a Cancer Research UK (CRUK) Career Development Fellow at the CRUK Scotland Institute (formerly Beatson Institute) and University of Glasgow. He received his PhD from the University of Bristol, where he studied mitochondrial dynamics and mitophagy with Prof Jon Lane. He then moved to Cologne to explore the metabolic regulation of mitochondrial quality control with Prof Thomas Langer at the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing and CECAD. He established his lab in Glasgow upon award of a prestigious CRUK Career Development Fellowship in 2022. His research group explores how mitochondrial metabolism is reprogrammed during cancer progression, with particular focus on the fine-tuning of mitochondrial metabolite transport.
