Judy Hirst, University of Cambridge, UK
Judy Hirst is Professor of Biological Chemistry at the University of Cambridge, Director of the MRC Mitochondrial Biology Unit, and a Fellow of the Royal Society and Academy of Medical Sciences. She is a physical chemist who combines structural, biochemical and chemical techniques to pioneer studies of energy conversion in complex enzymes and is known particularly for her work on mammalian respiratory complex I and for solving its structure by electron cryomicroscopy. Judy is also an advocate for sustainable research practice and Head of Sustainability at the School of Clinical Medicine in Cambridge.
