Dr. Filipe Cabreiro is a Professor at University of Cologne -Germany and Imperial College London - UK. He is a biochemist, who has studied the biological mechanisms underlying molecular stress protection, metabolism and ageing. His seminal work led to a paradigm shift in the use of C. elegans for studying host-microbe-drug interactions throughout ageing. He was awarded an EMBO Young Investigator award and a Royal Society/Wellcome Sir Henry Dale Fellowship, for his important contribution to science on the role of the microbiota in drug effects on host physiology. His research aims at developing strategies targeting the microbiota to treat ageing.
