Thomas Langer, Max-Planck-Gesellschaft, Germany
After a research stay at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, Thomas Langer earned his PhD from the LMU Munich working on chaperone-mediated protein folding. After establishing his independent group at the LMU Munich, he was appointed as professor at the University of Cologne, where he studied the role of mitochondrial protein quality control in neurodegeneration. Since 2018, he is Director at the Max Planck Institute for the Biology of Ageing in Cologne focusing on the analysis of mitochondrial proteostasis and its regulation in ageing and age-associated diseases.
