Nika Danial, Harvard Medical School, USA
Nika Danial received an undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from Stanford University in 1993, and a Ph.D. in Molecular, Cellular and Biophysical Studies from Columbia University in 1999. She then trained with the late Stanley J. Korsmeyer as a postdoctoral fellow at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where she studied mitochondrial apoptosis and identified a novel role for the BCL-2 family protein BAD in glucose metabolism. Dr. Danial joined the faculty of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School in 2005. Her lab focuses on causes and consequences of metabolic fuel choice in health and disease.
