Alexey Amunts is associate professor at Science for Life Laboratory, Stockholm. He studied structural biology at the Tel Aviv University and specialized in bioenergetics. Following his postdoctoral studies at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in the group of Venki Ramakrishnan, he established an independent group in Stockholm. His main scientific interest is to characterise molecular mechanisms leading to the bioenergetic membrane formation, by combining structural, biochemical and evolutional approaches. Alexey Amunts is EMBO Young Investigator, and the recipient of the Cancer Foundation Junior Investigator Award.
