Phillip J White is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Duke University, where he co-directs the White-McGarrah laboratory at the Duke Molecular Physiology Institute. Phillip completed his PhD in Endocrinology and Physiology at Université Laval in the laboratory of André Marette in 2012, and then conducted postdoctoral studies with Christopher Newgard at Duke. Phillip was awarded a Pathways to Stop Diabetes Initiator Award from the American Diabetes Association in 2016 and launched his independent laboratory in 2018. Phillip’s research over the last decade has centered on the regulatory mechanisms governing the integration of branched-chain amino acid metabolism with lipid, glucose, and protein homeostasis in health and disease.
