- Natalie Krahmer, Institute for Diabetes and Obesity, Helmholtz Diabetes Center, Germany
Dr. Natalie Krahmer received her PhD in 2011 under the mentorship of Prof. Tobias Walther at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry, Germany, and Yale Medical School, USA. Following her PhD, she pursued postdoctoral research in the lab of Prof. Matthias Mann at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry, where she honed her expertise in proteomics. In 2019, she was selected for the prestigious Emmy Noether Programme by the German Research Foundation, which enabled her to start her own research group at the Helmholtz Diabetes Center in Munich. Dr. Krahmer's laboratory focuses on cutting-edge organelle proteomics to investigate the cellular reorganization and metabolic signaling pathway alterations that occur during the development of metabolic diseases. Her research is particularly centered on the lipid and protein composition changes in adipose tissue and hepatic cell types during the progression of metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver diseases (MAFLD). Dr. Krahmer was honored with the ESFD/Novo Nordisk Future Leader Award in 2021. She is also actively involved in several national transregional initiatives in Germany, including lipid droplet research and adipose tissue biology.
