Nikla Emambokus is the Editor-in-Chief of Med, a new flagship medicine journal from Cell Press publishing transformative science across the clinical and translational research continuum—from large-scale clinical trials to translational studies with demonstrable functional impact.
Nikla comes from a nearly ten-year tenure as Editor-in-Chief at Cell Metabolism, where she diversified and expanded the scope of the journal to include clinical and translational work and enhanced the journal's standing (JCR IF 13.668 to 22.415), advancing it to first-in-class. Prior to joining Cell Press, Nikla received her PhD in biochemistry and molecular medicine from the University of Oxford. She then did her postdoctoral research at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine in Oxford and Boston Children’s Hospital – Harvard Medical School focusing on the molecular determinants of blood stem and progenitor cells in the mouse. Besides her passion for rigorous and impactful clinical and translational research, Nikla is an avid marathon runner.
