Speaker
Lauren M. Sparks is an Associate Investigator at the AdventHealth Translational Research Institute in Orlando, Florida. Dr. Sparks has an extensive background in substrate metabolism in both adipose and skeletal muscle tissues. Using a “bedside-to-bench” model of human clinical intervention trials paired with tissue-based omics and primary cell culture models, she employs a translational approach to determine the molecular regulation of healthy aging and exercise responses in aging, obesity and type 2 diabetes, with a particular emphasis on exercise response variation. Dr. Sparks was recognized for her contributions as a “Rising Star in Physiology and Metabolism” by the August Krogh Club of the Danish Diabetes and Endocrinology Academy in 2019.
