Dr. Atul Shahaji Deshmukh is currently an associate professor and group leader at the Novo Nordisk Foundation (NNF) Center for Basic Metabolic Research. Dr. Deshmukh was awarded a prestigious Future Leader Award from the European Foundation of the Study of Diabetes/Novo Nordisk Foundation (EFSD/NNF).  Goal of his research is to investigate how diet and exercise alters intra- and intercellular communication and hence the metabolism.  His group employ Mass-Spectrometry-based proteomics to study cellular communication and uncover new insights into metabolic diseases, and strategies for their prevention and treatment.
