K. Sreekumaran Nair, M.D., Ph.D., is a Professor of Medicine and Endocrinologist in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, Nutrition and Metabolism in the Department of Internal Medicine at Mayo Clinic Rochester. He is currently the Principal Investigator of one of 6 regional centers funded by the NIH Directors Common Fund and also a Principal Investigator of NIH Molecular Transducers of Physical Activity Benefits besides another RO1grant. He is recognized as a Distinguished Investigator at Mayo Clinic with the distinction of a named professorship, the David H. Murdock-Dole Food Company Professorship. He received his medical degree from the University of Kerala, India and received a MD degree from the State University of New York (Albany) and is a fellow of Royal College of Physicians (London), Fellow of American College of Physicians. Dr. Nair’s training in medicine and endocrinology were done in three different continents- All India Institute of Medical Sciences (New Delhi), Auckland University Medical Center (New Zealand), Charring Cross Hospital, London, MRC Clinical Research Center Northwick Park Hospital Harrow, UK.  He also received a PhD degree from England based on his research while at the MRC Clinical Research Center under the tutelage of Professor. John Garrow. He is member of American Society of Clinical Investigation and Association of American Physicians. He received many national and international awards. Two major Nutrition Societies on both sides of Atlantic bestowed him with their highest awards- E.V McCollum distinguished investigator award from American Society of Nutrition and Sir David Cuthbertson Medal and lectureship by the European Society of Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism. He also received honors from Japan and India. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate and Adjunct Professorship by the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden in recognition of his outstanding research contributions in diabetes and metabolism.
