Nikla Emambokus is the Editor-in-Chief of Cell Metabolism, a Cell Press/Elsevier publication which publishes original research articles and reviews on metabolism and homeostasis ranging from basic model organisms to clinical studies. She obtained her DPhil (Ph.D.) from the University of Oxford, UK, developing new genetic technologies to study mouse megakaryocytes and platelets on a Wellcome Trust Prize Fellowship in the laboratory of Jonathan Frampton. She then went on to investigate the role of transcription factors in the determination of mouse blood progenitors at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, Oxford, UK. She later joined the laboratory of Stuart Orkin at Children’s Hospital Boston/Harvard Medical School to investigate hematopoietic stem cell determination and plasticity. During her bench career, Dr. Emambokus has also worked at the Gurdon Research Institute in Cambridge, UK (formerly the Wellcome Trust and Cancer Research UK Institute), Vanderbilt University, Nashville, USA and the EMBL, Heidelberg, Germany. Dr. Emambokus joined Cell Press in 2005 and, in addition to Cell Metabolism, has worked on the editorial teams of Cell, Trends in Endocrinology and Metabolism and Trends in Molecular Medicine. Dr. Emambokus became the Editor-in-Chief of Cell Metabolism in 2010.
