Kat received her PhD in physical chemistry from Brown University where she worked on x-ray characterization of lithium-ion batteries. Kat became a scientific editor at Joule in 2019 where she primarily handles papers on electrochemical energy storage. She developed the battery checklist used by physical science journals across Cell Press.
