Alexei Lapkin studied biochemistry and specialised in catalysis at Novosibirsk State University. He emigrated to UK in 1997 and completed his PhD at the University of Bath in 2000. He was then appointed at the same university on an academic post and was gradually promoted to a Reader before taking up a position of Professor of Engineering at the University of Warwick in 2009. In 2013 Alexei moved to the University of Cambridge to take up a personal chair in Sustainable Reaction Engineering. At present he also holds a post of Adjunct Professor at National University of Singapore. In Cambridge Alexei Lapkin leads the Innovation Centre in Digital Molecular Technology (iDMT).
